Elevating healing is a mission that I have taken on. In doing so, I bring the power of our scientific body of literature and evidence that prove and guide us in helping the body & mind restore balance via nutrition. I marry this with the “human” side of you, and with the “subconscious” side of you to glean clear insights and customize your healing protocol uniquely to suite you.
Functional nutrition is not a one-size-fits-all discipline. We are all unique, with our own genetic make-up, health history, lifestyle and emotional profile- therefore, we each require a customized strategy to achieve and sustain optimal health.
Functional medicine and functional nutrition, are terms often used interchangeably, this view of healing the body and mind is becoming highly recognized as an effective approach to healing. With functional medicine doctors getting extensive media coverage, including appearing on high profile shows like Dr. Oz, publishing bestselling books and being recognized in medical journals, we are all waking up to the possibility of healing with a root cause approach.
Orthomolecular medicine, a form of alternative medicine, aims to maintain human health through nutritional supplementation and concentrated natural nutrients. Linus Pauling coined the term “orthomolecular” in the 1960s to mean “the right molecules in the right amounts” (ortho- in Greek implies “correct” or “right”). A “molecule” is the simplest structure that displays the characteristics of a compound. So, orthomolecular stands for the “right molecules”, for the right action we seek.
Two-time Nobel Prize winner, and molecular biologist, Linus Pauling, Ph.D.,coined the term “Orthomolecular” in his 1968 article “Orthomolecular Psychiatry” in the journal “Science.”
Orthomolecular medicine describes the practice of preventing and treating disease by providing the body with optimal amounts of substances which are natural to the body. This approach aids the body in doing what it was designed to do. From detoxing to cellular repair, and from proper growth to brain repair. This approach works with “nature”, i.e. the human body, using natural compounds to “promote” the functions which we desire. Mountains of research exist that show how nutritional deficiencies or a body’s lack of absorption or assimilation can result in physical and mental imbalances (diseases).
Cellular nutrition helps to clean the body cells of toxins, and to keep them active in order for the body to be able to absorb all the essential nutrients from foods, supplements and vitamins.
Due to the different schools of thought, flawed studies, or simply a lack of research, individuals find themselves lost among the conflicting information and advice given by health practitioners. This causes us to do nothing, or to follow an approach only to discover years later that it was debunked. This confusion and divide between different schools of healing needs to end, we need to consider the commonalities between us, while considering that every individual human is unique. There is “no” one-size-fits-all approach to healing.
I draw from a vast body of knowledge, resources and a support network to provide protocols proven to help. Further, we narrow down what needs to be done using Applied Kinesiology (AK), because no matter how well educated a practitioner is, the client’s body knows best. Rather than basing your healing on my education and knowledge, while important, I like to also “listen” to your body, we do that with AK, and narrow down your protocol to save you time and money.
When AK is used to test for food allergies, nutrient deficiencies, and supplements is it called Nutritional Response Testing (NRT).
I have been mentored by multiple health practitioners, each with 15+yrs of experience, they all follow this approach now after years of practice, they discovered that the client’s body already knows what it needs. I bring my skill of communicating with the subconscious mind and unconscious mind (via AK) and merge that with my education in nutrition and herbalism to customize to you what your uniquely need.
The (healthy) future of medicine and holistic healing will come in the form of functional medicine, mind-body medicine, orthomolecular medicine, by shifting away from the conventional disease-centered focus of medical education and practice, away from the one-size-fits-all approach, and away from drugs that mask symptoms, and the powerful control of insurance company directives and codes, to a more client-centered, whole-human-centered, mind-body, approach to healing the “whole” system of the human being.
My approach addresses the big picture. It ends the artificial divides between the body and the mind, between the science and the soul. This is the approach I offer my clients, right now.
This depth of holistic healing is not an easy approach to pursue as a practitioner, it is easier to specialize in one method alone and focus on that instead of taking on the amount of education, and effort it takes to work with each client to address the entire “you” from cell to soul! However, this is the only approach that leads to lasting healing and real change can be made. This is how I help my clients after they’ve tried everything else, after the conventional route has failed. This is how we elevate healing the mind and body to the next level, together.
