Imbalances in the body can impact the mind
I offer information to clients on nutrition to help every client restore a state of homeostasis. The education we explore covers topics such as: removing toxins, lowering inflammation, feeding deficiencies, strengthening the immune system, healing the gut, weight loss/gain, migraines, IBS, strengthening digestion, lowering/managing food sensitives, learning to eat a nourishing and healthy diet, and locating reliable nutrition information.
This education is based on classical and modern herbalism, orthomolecular (cell-specific) nutrition, and the principles of classical naturopathy, functional medicine and mind-body medicine. I include modern findings emphasizing the importance of the mind-body connection, gut-brain axis, autonomic/somatic/enteric nervous systems.
You will be empowered to heal your body, remove problems and give the body what it needs allowing for your innate wisdom of healing to do what it’s designed to accomplish, i.e. cause healing.
The mind and body are one unit, each impacting the other.
Many of the mental health problems we face are rooted in the gut, in toxicity, or deficiencies.
The father of modern medicine said:
Facts that inform this approach: The brain is a part of the body, the brain’s function is impacted by many physical factors, the gut (the enteric nervous system) plays a role in mood and energy, and the mind and body are one unit (mindbody) and both impact each other. To achieve your best, balancing the whole of you is important.
Benefits from this education are only seen if the client makes changes. This includes the purchase and use of supplements, nutrients, and food.
I am trained in herbalism and nutrition. I combine modern research along with classical mind-body wisdom.
All of the nutritional and herbal information I share was produced by experts, including the neurobalance protocol on ADD/ADHD.
We can optimize the body with nutrition, this helps balance the neurochemistry of the brain impacting behavioral and mental health. This approach is also known as ‘functional nutrition’.
Due to the gut-brain axis, we focus on gut health to impact positive changes across the mind and body. The gut is the seat of health. We target enzymes, stomach acid, the health of the intestines, microflora, and work to repair leaky gut, lowering inflammation, improving intestinal microflora and restore balance and health of the entire GI tract.
We can improve the gut using nutritional approaches, along with mental approaches such as somatic awareness, subconscious mind work, and hypnosis.
You can also be more empowered to balance glands and organs, removing toxins and providing the nutrition needed for optimal function, guided by both traditional herbal wisdom and modern evidence-based orthomolecular and functional medicine findings and research.
Balancing the body’s chemistry allows the body to restore normal levels of neurotransmitters, enzymes, and hormones and allows the body to restore balance across all its systems with an impact on mental health, ability, and mood.
The philosophy behind nutrition education is that all healing is self-healing, that you can work “with nature”, with the body’s innate wisdom. The goal is to restore balance (homeostasis) to your inner environment, this causes inner and lasting healing.
Clients find this beneficial with chronic illness, pain, boosting the immune system, cancer, sleep, weight loss or gain, allergies, mystery conditions, along with supporting a more resilient mental health state.
We also discuss maintaining physical health and prevention of imbalances.
Research shows that hormonal and neurochemical balances are hinged upon a healthy gut and a sufficient supply of specific critical nutrients.
Medications do not provide these essential nutrients.
To help restore balance to the body’s environment we blend:
- Functional clinical nutrition: Orthomolecular (cellular-specific) with Nutritional Response Testing (NRT)
- Western and eastern herbalism
All of your body’s systems are intimately connected, we blend the above with mental health, emotional, and subconscious mind balancing as needed when appropriate to improve results and value.
