Recently Ethan Wise treated a 16 year old boy who was diagnosed with oppositional defiant disorder (ODD). ODD is a serious disorder where patients show chronic aggression, frequent outbursts and a tendency to ignore requests to purposely irritate others. Often people with this disorder do not have the possibility of a good future. The boy frequently got in trouble with his parents, ran away from home multiple times, created disturbances at school and refused to work with a therapist.
When Ethan met with the boy he found he was interested in the concept of hypnosis, so much that he was receptive to being treated where previously he refused to participate in therapy. Ethan promoted the boy’s innate ability to build upon his own strengths. Ethan taught the boy many tools to manage his anger and help his body calm down when needed. Ultimately, due to Ethan’s efforts, the boy’s situation dramatically improved.
