A great way to begin any self-hypnosis program is to ask yourself what your goals are, and then prioritize them in order of importance. You have to be careful not to overwhelm the subconscious by trying to tackle too many issues at once. Start with whatever is the most pressing issue for you, and go from there. Remember, your subconscious is very childlike.
Your statements or suggestions should follow these rules, ordered by order of importance:
- Be about something you have strong desire for **
- Be Specific
- Be positive
- Omit negating words such as “not”, “wont”, “don’t”
- Do not speak of the things, feelings, topics, items, or words that you want “less of”. Don’t speak of what you “do not want”.
- Speak of the things you “do want”, or want more of.
- Be in the present tense
- Ex. I am dancing easily or I dance easily
- Speak of action not ability
- Don’t say: I’m be able to dance
- Try to avoid saying: I can dance.
- Say: I dance, or I am dancing.
- Simple language (good for a 10yr old)
- Short. Something you can say in 15 seconds or less.
- Exaggerate or emotionalize
- Add a word such as: wonderful, beautiful, amazing, easily, enjoy..
- Add one of these phrases to your sentence:
- “or better”,
- “for the best possible outcome”,
- “every day, in every way”, or
- “somehow”
The statements you write can be used as affirmations, in self-hypnosis, with your hypnotherapist, with your counselor, with your own PSYCH-K balances or with a PSYCH-K facilitator, with visualizations, prayers, in gratitude and manifestation work.
**. You do not need to have a strong desire if your goal is to “test” for the statement, to see if your subconscious believes in it.
If your subconscious is in strong disagreement, self-hypnosis alone wont be enough to reprogram your belief. You will need actual hypnotherapy, age regression, parts therapy, or something like resetting the nervous system, using the whole brain postures, or PSYCH-K.
Suggestion Statement Tips
If you are unsure about what to say as your suggestion statement during your self-hypnosis session, you can’t go wrong with this famous all-encompassing autosuggestion by French psychologist and hypnotist Emile Coue:
“Every day, in every way, I’m getting better and better.”
You can also visualize the results in your mind’s eye.
